JOB TITLE: Program Manager – Nutrition
DEPARTMENT: The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
SUMMARY:
The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science at the New York Academy of Sciences (The Sackler Institute/ the Academy) was created by a founding gift from The Mortimer D. Sackler Foundation to spearhead a global effort to systematically and comprehensively address the critical global crisis in malnutrition, including obesity, under-nutrition and nutritional deficiencies. The Sackler Institute has collaborated with the World Health Organization to launch an initiative to develop and activate a global agenda for nutrition science research. Additionally, it works with academic institutions, non-profit organizations, government bodies, and corporations to convene scientists and experts that highlight advances in nutrition science; stimulate research by issuing grants and prizes to a worldwide network of researchers; and disseminate key ideas through publications. The Sackler Institute generates a coordinated network across sectors, disciplines, and geographies that promotes open communication; encourages exchange of information and resources; nurtures the next generation of scientists; and affects community intervention and public policy changes.
As a 501(c) (3) charity organization, the Academy seeks philanthropic support to carry out its mission and ensure that the institution has the resources, talent, and ability to deliver them. As a member of The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science, the Program Manager will assist in steering diverse scientific projects. This is a unique opportunity for a person with excellent writing and interpersonal skills and a passion for nutrition science.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The Academy operates during standard business hours Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. Standard work week is 35 hours, unless otherwise noted. Occasional travel may be necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filling cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
